SeedsBit represents a new solution for products and services tracking in the agri-food sector. We want to help consumers and businesses to make more informed purchasing decisions and ensure balanced and transparent relationships between suppliers and customers.

Phase 1 · Raw materials

Agriculture and cultivation processes

The production process starts in the field. Cultivation represents one of the fundamental phases of product quality. Farms treat large land areas with substances aimed to make production as efficient as possible. Different data types can be generated and collected during these phases: harvest state, fertilizers used, and other treatments carried out. SeedsBit collects information from the origin of the production chain, starting from the field.

Phase 2 · Products

Industrial transformation processes

Once the raw materials are collected, each production chain starts processing them. It is characterized by a complex sequence of transformation processes that often unite several raw materials, better known as additives. The data produced during processing represent an important part of the final product unique history; therefore, our platform pays particular attention to this phase.

Phase 3 · Ingredients

From industry to large retailers

The processed products begin their journey to the large retailers. The production chains ship the products in various ways to their distribution warehouses and subsequently to those of other companies, such as supermarkets, which deal directly with end consumers. Tracing this phase is essential to ensure a connection with the history of the product and allow it to be traced back to its origin.

Phase 4 · Meals

Information at home, in the restaurant, at the bar

Finally, the product arrives on the consumer's table. Our platform permits the users to consult the history of the product during its constitutive phases. Therefore each product has its unique story, which involves different supply chains. Based on the blockchain technology, SeedsBit platform makes it possible for the user to track and trace agri-food products in a safe, immutable and transparent way.

Blockchain platform

Our solution is based on blockchain technology and in particular on Hyperledger Fabric. The blockchain is ideal for agri-food context in which different actors are interacting with each other and often present conflicting interests. The blockchain guarantees transparency, trust and traceability thanks to encryption mechanisms and distributed consent. No one (even Seeds) can delete, modify or disclaim the data entered.

Multi-chain modules and smart contracts

Smart contracts are the elements of distributed logic running on a blockchain that regulate transactions relative to the domain of interest. Our SeedsBit uses different smart contracts to meet the needs of each existing and non-existing supply chain. The multi-chain approach makes SeedsBit the ideal solution to track non only a single product on a single production chain, but to track multiple products with intertwined supply chains that often end in the supermarket or restaurant.

Permission management

Using SeedsBit does not mean you should give up your privacy, just on the contrary. Our application can provide different permission access levels. For instance, it is possible to define blockchain communication channels reserved for particular companies and supply chains or to define the permissions for the employees to view or enter data.
